Family Impact Fund Announcement

Dear supporters and friends of Family Impact Fund:

These have been and continue to be extremely challenging and uncertain times in our lives right now due to the COVID-19 outbreak – dramatically impacting our community’s physical, emotional, and economic well-being.  As a result, nonprofit organizations are strategizing to remain viable.

Unfortunately, Family Impact Fund has not been spared of this pandemic.  After being forced to cancel three critical fundraising events this spring from which our organization was to benefit in excess of $200,000 and being acutely aware that the community will be laser-focused on funding initiatives toward surviving (not thriving/upward mobility) in the foreseeable future, Family Impact Fund’s Board of Directors has had to come to a very difficult conclusion and agonizing decision:  Family Impact Fund cannot remain viable and will need to cease operation as of June 30th

With this said, Family Impact Fund will have residual funds that need to be allocated to a nonprofit organization. The board and I have been identifying and considering potential organizations/initiatives to distribute our funds which best honor our donors’ (YOUR) original intentions and best align with Family Impact Fund’s mission to provide tuition assistance to low –income families for high-quality child care.  After vetting many organizations with great care and discernment, Thompson has been selected to continue our mission.

Thompson will designate our funds toward scholarships for children from low-income families to attend their five star-rated child development center that will help their parents to maximize their employment and/or continue their education. Three children at Thompson have already been identified who qualify for tuition assistance, and Thompson Executive Director, Will Jones, anticipates the growing need. In addition, our funds will have even greater impact – children will be assessed for academic and emotional needs and receive the appropriate resources, therapy, and wrap-around services to position them and their families for success.  Please refer to Thompson’s website to better understand their passion for and commitment to the most vulnerable children and families in our community:

As this letter is heart-wrenching for me to write, I can only imagine how disappointing it is to you, our donor.  Be assured that your encouragement, support, and belief in our mission has never been taken for granted in the past and that our gratitude to you will last forever.  Please feel free to reach out to me about any questions or concerns.

Our thoughts and prayers will be with you, your family and our community as we continue to navigate through this tenuous time – STRONGER TOGETHER.

With a very heavy heart,
